I was recently part of a group show in Pallas Projects/Studios titled ‘A Setting’ along with three other emerging artists – Imogen Brady, Cara Donaghey and Daire McEvoy. The image above is an installation shot from ‘Cracks’ which is a new video work I made and projected in the gallery.
Cracks is a glimpse into an unknown place and time; a woman evidently stuck in the past. She can’t seem to focus and keeps getting distracted by the next thing until she finds another crack, a sign of the disarray and broken home she inhabits. Her frustration and eagerness to hide the crack only contradicts all that is happening around her. Passing between reality and a dream like state the disjointed nature of this film creates an unsettling feeling and snapshot into this woman’s existence. Starring artist Caitríona Ní Threasaigh, she brings us on a frenzied journey down into the cracks.
